Christmas

Merry Christmas!

The Mundo de Niños Team wishes you a merry and relaxed Christmas as well as a happy and successful New Year!

2019 is coming to its end and we’re looking at 2020 with confidence. A few weeks ago, we decided with the Fundación Meridional to extend our project for the upcoming year by inaugurating a Day Center for children in need. It will be integrated to the current infrastructure after some remodelling work.

The Day Center will offer a healthy lunch, school tutoring, as well as psychological and social support to disadvantaged boys and girls after school.

For the development of our project, we could benefit from the support of local companies as well as the support of the Fundación Meridional. However, the need for support based on foreign donations will grow. This is why we would be very grateful if you could talk about our project at your school, university, work, sports club and to your friends

Thank you!

The Mundo de Niños Team

A great commitment to start the year!

The end of 2017 and the start of 2018 showed a high commitment for Mundo de Niños, embodied by two special donations:

Get Rhythm charity concert:

Each year in December, the band “Get Rhythm” plays for a good cause: the money paid for the entrance tickets is then donated to various charity projects. Mundo de Niños could also receive a part of these donations for the second time in two years. The success was big and the band could donate 300€ in 2016 and 400€ in 2017 for our project!

Educational Activities – Responsible use of water

In the past weeks, the Street Work area organised two activities in Huanchaco, in the social disadvantaged sectors Victor Raul and El Trópico. The activities were organised around the topic of how to responsibly use water. As you may know, in these sectors as well as the peripheral zones of Peruvian cities, people do not alway have an easy access to water. In many parts of these zones, there is no water connection, the only alterntive being water containers to be placed on the roofs, which are expensive.

Discount on surf classes for volunteers!

For 7 years, Mundo de Niños children have been enjoying free surf classes given by the surf school Un Lugar Surf School in Huanchaco all year long. That way, all the kids can swim and face the waves without fear, while enjoying the fresh seaside air. Some of the boys were good enough to take part in local competitions organised in Huanchaco. The kids go to their surf classes each week accompanied by the tutors on shift as well as the volunteers available.
