Last Saturday was the last session of the comic workshop organised by Alexandra Torres, artist and plastic arts teacher. The children were invited for dinner at a Pollería – a grilled chicken restaurant – by Alexandra to celebrate the end of the workshop and enjoy a nice time together outside of the classroom.
Never have I felt so much love, or as fulfilled as with the boys in Mundo de Niños. Our hours spent playing on the beach, in soccer matches, working on homework, listening to their stories, sharing birthday celebrations and the day to day arguments and laughs are hours I would never wish to take back.
From March to June, the children of the Home could test their creativity with a comic workshop each Saturday afternoon organized and led by the art teacher and artist Alexandra Torres.
During these three months, the children and teenagers learned some comic drawing and writing techniques with Alexandra Torres in small groups.
On the occasion of the surf championships for kids in Huanchaco who took place on Saturday, May 22d, we inaugurated our brand new motorbike which will be used to sell our bread and pastry goods around Huanchaco.
Beautifully painted, the motorbike was parked on the beachside where everyone from Huanchaco and Trujillo was lying down, watching the kids from the different surf schools compete in the water, facing 3 and 4-meter waves.
Happy Birthday Moisés!
Moisés is one of the newly arrived kids. He was taken care of by Mundo de Niños after assessing that he was in a state of abandonment and lack of good care. He arrived in December of last year and has been integrating more and more into the life of the Home since then. He is a funny, friendly kid with a tendency to shyness – although on the occasion of his birthday, he showed us a hidden talent of his: breakdancing!
