It is hard to sum up with words experiences one has made – especially when these experiences are so important to you. But I will try to do so in these lines.
I was, during my stay in Peru, looking for charities working for children in Trujillo and stumbled upon Mundo de Niños on the Internet. I was invited to an interview and was welcome with open arms and warmth straight away by the staff and the children. I had never met the children before, but I could feel my bond to them right from the start and knew that this was the place I wanted to work in.
It’s been two years now that I am back in Germany, but there is not one day that passes by without me thinking of the boys. Mundo de Niños gives children with difficult background a second chance and brings them not just food and clothing, but also values, norms and love.
The Home is very close to the sea, which offers the possibility to organise various activities with the children. We used to go almost every day to the beach or play football. The atmosphere in the Home was always very positive, full of hope and love.
I would highly recommend to anyone who is interested in volunteering in Peru to go to Mundo de Niños. The love that you give to the kids is given back to you ten times stronger and not only memories remain, but also friendships with wonderful people.
